I took this last Friday. I was i my truck and the cow and calves were about 60 yards away. I stayed in my truck and took this with a 5X on my Oly C3000.
Geez these are cute little calves. A woman in Anchorage got stomped on by a moose last week, and this cow was really protective, also I didn't want to spook them, these little guys look pretty young.

It's probably a good thing you stayed in the truck Annie, it looks like that moose is giving you the evil eye! She has her hooves full with twins, so it's undestandable why she would be a little grumpy!!!

Great photo AnnieAK! Never see anything like that from where I'm from. I'd stay away from that Cow though. Looks like she may be a tab bit larger than you!

Great capture Annie. IMO critters seem to be less spooked by cars and they make good photo blinds. Technical question - Are you using a camera mount on the door or maybe a bean bag on the rolled down window? I need to get out from behind this computer and go take some wildlife shots. Henry

Wildbird- I just had my camera resting on the window edge. A beanbag or anything would probably have been better, but she was slowly herding the calves to the spruce trees on the left, and I barely had time to pull over to the edge of the road and grab my camera.
I agree, vehicles make great photo blinds. I take lots of pictures from my truck! ;)

Cool photo Annie!! Thanks for sharing with us. I'm pretty sure that is a sight I will never see here in Texas.

I read about that woman who got stomped. If I ever see a moose I'll be staying well away from them.

Thanks for sharing the pic Annie.

Great photograph Annie. I see you are still photographing Moose. You came up with another very good one this time also!

When I'm shooting from my truck I turn the ingnition off if I have time. At slow shutter speeds the engine vibartion can give you trouble.

Very cool and nice picture. It sure is neat to see the little gaffers, isn't it? And yes, Mom sure doesn't look real pleased with you.
