Boat Show runs through Sunday

More than 65,000 people are expected to attend the 48th St. Louis Boat & Sports Show from Tuesday through Feb. 17 at America's Center and Edward Jones Dome.

Most kinds of recreational watercraft, from luxury power yachts to canoes, will be in displays by all of the area's marine dealers. Of special interest will be the new outboard motors developed to meet tightened national pollution standards.

The show also will have travel booths, fishing tackle and representatives of resorts around the region.

On Saturday, Feb. 16, the Mid-America Turkey Calling and Owl Hooting competition will be held, with the finals at 3 p.m.

Among the show's new features are:

* The Discover Boating Center where "The Boat Guy" helps match prospective boaters with their needs.

* Bill Matney, dog trainer, showing his Labrador retrievers in action.

* Squales Sea Lions Splash Show.

* A display of antique boats.

* St. Louis Herpetological Society snake and lizard exhibit.
