i have a cabin on the upper truckee river in tahoe, and have been trout fishing there all my life. with lake piru/castaic/casitas/cachuma etc. not to far away from my house id like to start lake fishing preferably bass. i have basic tackle some lures and hard baits and things. what kind of bait/ lure should i be getting for lures and live (I'm guessing worms) but on swim baits and cranks i have no clue. i figure 8-10 lb test i have some nice fen wick rods and some nice trout reels and one casting reel i have never used can someone get me in the right direction? thanks!:coolaid:

Well for me rubber worms with either white or yellow jig heads i have been knocking them out on. Also minnow swimbaits.
U could could use some live night crawlers too. Flashy spin lures are great too, u know just have fun and mix it up....tra

Archer is in Florida, way different than here. Those waters you mentioned are highly pressured. For most techniques you can get away with 6-8 lb test. Heavier in rocks and structure. Lighter line in clearer water will get you more bites. Also consider fluoro carbon line in deep clear waters.

Here is a must. 4-6 inch worms in purple, green pumpkin and margarita mutilator. If I could only afford one technique to save my life this would be it

Next would be the drop shot.

These are what I would show somebody who is new to bass fishing.
If you got more questions on other techniques let me know. Crank baits, spinner baits, flukes, senkos, top water, jigs, frogs etc...

Yeh when I asked one off these bass pro fishing guys at the Bass Pro shop what worms he recommended and he said black worms works great, I sm sure he knows what he's talking about but it still made me scratch my head and I just took the commonsense approch and went with the most natural color of a worm to use and i found these ( 6" Finesse Pumpkin ) and have been knocking them dead with them.
Then I wanted some 4" worms and just bought these ( 4" MTR OIL ) color with a swimtail on The end since they didn't have the pumpkin color in 4 " and Cought 2 this morning on them, one bass was real nice..... tra
