This excerpt from Oct 9, 2001 San Diego Union Tribune:Cuyamaca: The water temperature has dropped here, sending the stocked rainbow trout into their annual fall biting frenzy. The lake was stocked with 1,000 pounds of Eagle Lake-strain rainbow trout last week. Next week, the lake will receive 300 pounds of steelhead trout as part of its 1,200 pounds of trout from Whitewater Trout Co. Anglers averaging two trout per outing, with bait fishermen outfishing those using artificials. A 441/2-inch sturgeon was caught and released (sub-legal). Channel catfish congregating at the dam. Flavio Torres, San Diego, 25-0 channel catfish, mackerel, Tower near the dam. Jake Phillips, Poway, 3-8 rainbow trout, white spinner, Lone Pine Tree. Paul Legare, San Diego, 6-0 bass, yellow Trout Teaser, Secret Spot. Open daily.
I look forward to catching a few!
