I am thinking of investing in a nice pair of binoculars this year and was wondering if the Steiner Predator series was worth looking at? I hunt deer and elk mostly in the western half of Oregon which is thick with brush and cover.

I would probably go with the 8x42.

Thanks for your input.

kerryks,

Welcome to Jesse's. I don't know much about the predator series, but have looked through other steiner glass. Steiner makes good all around optics. I am curious to know if the predators really do bring out the "animal colors" from the background like they say.

I borrowed a bair of Steiner Bighorns(9x40) from a friend last year because I forgot my Nikon Monarchs in camp. The Steiner's were clearer and sharper especially in low light. The other thing I really liked is they are individual focus. Set them to your eyes and you will never have to focus them again. I'm going to pick up a pair for myself this year.
