This is my second year with a hunting tag. I took a bit of time this spring going for turkeys and each time out I got closer but did not bag anything. I went for geese a couple of times and did walkaway with a few. This year I want to continue the quest for turkeys and try my hand at pigs. Those are the goals for this winter. I want to do this as stick and string.

Over the summer I picked up an Amerstep Dog house blind. Set it up (and took it down) this weekend. Seems like its going to be a good addition for my attempt at turkeys. The last day of the season last year I had 3 birds come right up to my but as I reached for my bow the 2 toms ran off. The hen stuck around and talked crap to my decoy - that convinced me to get a blind. I had surveyed maybe a half dozen different areas during the spring and one spot I saw birds every time out so I will be heading out there again come turkey season. I had talked to one hunter who said fall birds are very diff than spring birds in that fall birds arent looking for love and are harder to call in. Is that true? Anything else of note for fall birds?

As for pigs I guess I gotta try Lake Sonoma this winter. I may head up this weekend and look it over as I have never been out there. Seems like a lot of ground to cover but looks like nice hiking as well. I am not in bad shape -try to run 3-5 miles a day so hiking around isnt too daunting. But I havent gone after pigs before. Any hints there would be appreciated.

Thanks
