This is to inform all you shotgun users of how poor stoeger/benelli shotguns are and to get parts is like pulling teeth from a wild hog. I just bought a brand new stoeger turkey shotgun from bass pro shops the 1st hunt i went out quail hunting i only fired 6 shots out of the gun and the forearm slide broke in half needless to say my 3 day hunting trip was over (well with that gun) Now all i was doing was racking a new round into the chamber at a fast rate cause i was shooting at alot of quail when i fired all my rounds i went to reload and noticed that the slide was broke. Oh well ill just call the company since i just bought it it should be covered, So i called they replaced it for free and said it would take 30 days to get it. I was like WHAT! WTF!!! so theres nothing i could do but wait so i did. I called them today the part still is on order its been 45 days already and now there telling me another 30 days this is BS>> So if you are looking to buy a new shotgun PLEASE dont buy any guns from this company cause your new gun if it brakes will collect dust for your hunting season. And there made by benelli thats said.

Thats a bummer man.

I've only recently had any experience with a Stoger. A friend of mine bought their cheapest over/under 12GA, and I shot it once...I hated it. The gun just felt cheap. The wood, action, trigger assembly...everything felt cheap. Moreover, it didn't have any shell ejectors, and to close the action you had to flip the break lever back the other direction- as in you couldn't just close it.

However, it was his first gun and it made him happy enough to spend $600. But, personally, I love my 870. And it was half as much.

Wow, I'll take this into consideration. Sorry about your problem. I'm in the market for a new one and was thinking about a Stoeger. The problem with me is that I have a $400 ceiling.

I'm now leaning toward a semi-auto 20gauge, but it has to be light with a 24" or less barrel. I won't bother with the Stoeger.

My search and research continues.

Good luck to you, Jay.

Anyone have experience with the new Weatherby SAS? At a MSRP of $449.00 they look pretty good. If I was in the market for a new autoloader and was on a budget this would be the first one I would look at. I personally don't know anyone who has one, but I do know others with older Weatherby autos that have nothing but good things to say about them.

Just for the record, I own a Tri-Star O/U 12ga.which is made in Turkey (Ithink the Stoeger is made in Turkey also) I love it! for the money it was the best $300 I have ever spent. I have put an easy 500 rounds through it and have had no problems. FYI

what about the stoeger semi autos. I hear they have the same action as the Benelli.

I paid 100 bucks for a Mossberg 500 back in the early 90's. I have beat that gun up, dropped it thrown it under crap in my truck, hardly ever cleaned the darn thing and it has done nothing but last and last and last. It shoots straight and patterns well. It survived me and for the last 4 years has taken a beating by my daughter.

It is too big and bulky for me now so I would not buy another one, but man how that gun has performed.

My next shotgun on a budget would easily be a remington 870 if you are looking for a pump gun.

i have the stoeger 2000 in 12 gauge and i must say i spent 450 bucks out the door brand new. the only issue i ever had was i got a choke stuck cuz i didnt clean it well enough during duck season. but i have easily shot over 1000 rounds through it since buyin it and never had a jam love the gun!! but your are right there service is horrible if they could get more than one person in all of the US that stocks there parts there would b no problems

I will surely keep your advise in mind Jayhobby. It's too bad that some companies do the things they do to their customers. I've heard that Stoegers service is'nt all that good. So on the other side of this, I have to give db 183 a +1 here. The Mossberg 500 !!! I bought a spinoff of the 500, a Westernfield Mod.550A for $62.50, 5 years ago. Cut the barrel off at 22 inches, ported it, took out the forceing cone,(great skeet gun) bought a ported slug barrel, and have put at least 5000-6000 shells out of this gun.(500-600 slugs, I cast my own) and not ONE thing has broken so far on this gun. Have been lucky I guess. Also I have 3 Mossbergs 410, 20, & 12ga. I like'm.

The Stoger semi's are very hit or miss. Some guys havent had a single minor problem with them, others have got shells stuck/jammed on the second shot, out of the box. It has to do with the length of shell and the action...you got me on all the tech. jargon. All I know is if they are that spotty/hit or miss its not a gun for me.

As for their over unders and pumps, I have heard less problems. I looked into a O/U this weekend at a SA up here (they were practically giving shotguns away this past week) and I though the ejectors looked fine, but I thought the things weighed a ton. Way too much. I liked the Remington Spartan O/U a little more. I guess its all in who you talk too and their luck. Its just too much of a role of the dice for me with 400 dollars on the line.

I bought a mossberg 500a over ten years ago for $200. It came with a 28" fixted modified barrel and a 18 1/2" home defense barrel. I have ran more rounds through it than I can fathom and last year the plastic trigger housing wore out. I took it to a gun smith and he told me to just buy a new gun. I purchased a Benelli Super Nova and I really like it. Anyway, I found the trigger mechanism for the mossberg for about sixty five bucks. I'll just fix it myself. Not the best looking gun but absolutly bomb proof.
