So my buddy and I pulled tags for Muzzleloader Elk in NM...! Thats the gREAT news..

Bad news is, he just bailed on me due to family obligations.. He claims that he can switch his tag to someone else.. (Said he called NM F&G). Everything I am reading says otherwise..
Anyone know the story??

Just called the outfitter we are going with and he says No as well..

We are both in $1300+ at this point. I HAVE to go.. I cannot wait.. My guide fee is going to now go up due to it now being a 1 on 1. As is transportation, all the costs we could have split, etc, etc. (this is my first elk hunt/ I'm a east coast deer hunter) soo I wanted to do it with an outfitter and will end up spending the next few years starign at credit cards ;). ALL JUST sucks.. EXCEPT for the original fact that I pulled a NM tag!!!!!! And Im going!

Any advise would be helpful on the name switch..

MUCH APPRECIATION!

IMHO, I do not believe you can swap or trade tags and you can't do much if you've got them in hand already.
If you bought "guide" tags you might be able to walk away with a penalty fee, then the guide will fill your buddies spot or make you pay all...
Good luck...

He drew the tag.. no swapping or selling.

Go hunting and enjoy it, then find a new partner.
Education isn't cheap and you just learned quit a bit about your partner.
