After flatbroke and I finished up our morning hunt, we headed over to another ranch for an evening hunt. We stopped got some thing cold to drink, told the dogs to take a power nap. They were going back to work in a bit. We arrived at our friends place. He was ready to go. About a 3 mile drive, and we were unloading atv's and dogs. We checked a spot about 1/4 mile away that had some recent sign. No luck. As we worked our way east the dogs continued to roll out and cover some ground. We check a good game trail that had been being used. We noticed we had not seen the dogs for a short while. We drove about another 100 yards, then stopped to listen. The dogs were bayed solid, with some squealling. They were not too far off so we turned in 2 catch dogs. We drove within 40 yards of them. The dogs had two hogs caught right out in the open. As we were taking care of business, I noticed we were missing a dog. As we finished the hogs, the dogs were rolling out. I could then here another bay off in the distance. After a short while you could tell all the dogs were together. Problem was they had gone on to the neighbors. We did not have permission to go there. We sat there for the next 30 to 40 minutes making phone calls. Finally we got the green light and a lock combo. The dogs were now about a mile away. We worked our way towards them. They were on the edge of a pond. We parked the atv's no more than 30 or 40 yards. sent the catch dogs, and finished the job. Gathered everything up and headed home. Another great hunt, got to love the way dogs can make hunts productive. The dogs did grab a couple others of their own.
