When for a hunt Sunday morning with Flatbroke, and some other family. It was verry muddy, so we had the quads. The plan was to walk in, and leave the quads at the gate. My father in law stayed behind to bring up one of the quads. As we were walking he called on the radio to let us know there were hogs up on a ridge to our left.
We began to work our way up the mountain. As we aproached the 3/4 way mark the hogs busted us. about the same time the hogs busted us, the dogs winded them. The hogs blew out at mach 1. I began running side hill to head up the canyon. A few hundred yards later I could hear barking.
I then sent another dog to help. I arrived at the hog. I noticed I was missing a dog. I could then hear barking further up the canyon. I finshed the hog with my pistol. Just then Flatbroke comes on the radio. He could see another hog headed in his direction. I will let him tell the rest of that story.
My father in law drove the quad up and around to try to get to the other dog. When I got the dogs off the hog I had killed, I could not hear the other dog barking any more. Flatbroke had just heard him. We could not tell where he was. My father in law found him shortly there after. He had some blood on him. So he was fighting one of the hogs. Being a young dogs he needs to learn to stay with it until we can get to him.
I started down and out of the canyon with the dogs, and the hog. Along the way, I found a skull with some pretty good teeth. It was a good day, We were loaded up and headed home by noon.
