Is there a difference? The EL's are lighter, but is there a difference in the while looking through them? There is a sale right now and I have been thinking about it for awhile. I am partial to the SCL 10x50, but the EL 10x42 are almost the same price. Thanks.

I couldn't tell the difference, except in price. I couldn't tell much difference between the SLC 10x50's and the SLC 10x42's. For the price difference and the loss of 8mm, I went with the SLC 10x42's and never looked back.

Those binos, coupled with a good harness system will serve you for the rest of your life. Swaro's are tops in my book.

I own a pair of 8.5x42 EL's and love them. I have looked through SLC's on hunts with friends, it's hard to tell the difference. The EL glass is the same glass they use on their HD spotting scopes. If you are using the binos or scope for photography and want the best "true to color" glass possible then go HD or EL. If not, I doubt you would regret getting the SLC's.

I went ahead and bought the EL 10x42 while they are on sale. I hesitated, but finally got the pair of binoculars I wanted.

EL vs. SLC

I am one of there prostaffer's and I can honestly tell you to an untrained eye it is extremely hard to tell the difference. The EL's are very nice and just ergonomically feel great! Im sure your choice no matter what is perfect. Flip a coin! Enjoy em!

One way to really test them is look at a hillside when the sun is close to going down or has just gone down behind it ( looking toward the sun ). DO NOT LOOK AT THE SUN !

I compared my Kahles to some Swaros and there wasn't a big difference until I did this. The ELs picked up much less glare and were clearly superior in this aspect.

This is a situation you will run into in hunting all of the time.
