I am looking for stories from peoples success with the use of scents. I have been hunting for 20 years now, and have had next to no success with urine based scents. So a couple years ago I gave synthetic scents a whirl. I had more response to this stuff in one season than all the others my whole hunting life. I had many deer, does and bucks, stop right in it. Several of them even pee'd in it. Never spooked a one, and most stayed in the area for a long time, offering many shot opportunities. They were very relaxed. If anyone else has used this stuff (Hawg's Limited), or anything else that was successful, please post back. Any input is appreciated!

Wow, I just read my own post and I sound like a salesman! I am in no way connected to the company that makes this product-- wish I were! Just wanted to make that clear.

bigbucks, I have used (according to the directions) the synthetic scents before, and not only did I not have any luck, it seemed to spook the deer out of the area instead!! As I say, I am VERY CAREFUL when using scents, and just didn't have any luck with it, dominant buck i think. Maybe you will fare better, good luck!!!!

Cdad, I'm surprised at your results, or lack of results. I have not had a negative reaction yet. But that's why I put up this post, to see what other people's experiences have been. Thanks for the input.

FF14, I was the same place you are. Tried them all--nothing worked. Several years ago, I was seeing a young buck come out of a thicket every evening at about the same time. I had a stand there, so I decided to put down some doe-in-heat on the trail he had been using to observe his reaction. Right on time, here he came. The anticipation mounted. Closer.Closer. NOTHING!!!!! He walked right over it without missing a step. Not even a flick of the tail. It was fresh scent, and there was plenty of it there for him to smell. This has been my typical reaction with all urine scents I have tried. But I really have had quite different results with the synthetics. I have had several experiences when bucks and does have put their nose right in this stuff. Now, I dont claim that it brought these deer in from out of their way, but it sure didn't hurt. I consider every year an experiment, and each season I try something a little different. More knowledge this year.

I'm about done with scents after years of trying all different brands.I'd rather sit on a funnel, bedding area,or intersection of several good runs.I thought james valley would be different from the norm but had similar results.

Cdad, I am not sure we're talking about the same stuff. I don't think this company makes 'dominant buck'. They just ghad stuff for pre/post rut, rut, and some licking branch stuff. Maybe you had something different?

bigbucks, it's the same stuff. The guys name is Kevin "hawgs" Kreh. That's why I put the ?, I couldn't remember exactly what it was (my Son-in-law bought it). Maybe you will have better luck though, I always say "It's only a mistake if you don't learn". Some of the best lessons we can learn to make us better hunters, can only come from trial and error/past experiences!! Let me know how it works out for you....... good luck!!!!

P.S.-Have you ever tried James Valley scents (wallhanger)? I have had pretty good LUCK in the past with scents in my area, and this stuff has gotten REALLY GOOD comments/reviews, from everything I have read about it. I'll let you know!!!!! T-18 days and a wake-up until the opener....... but who's counting!!???

Cdad, thanks for the reply. Yeah, thats the same stuff. I was hoping it wasn't. I wish you're responses would have been better. I am going to test it again this year, along with the james valley stuff. I just got their catalog in the mail the other day. I've also read some good things about it. I will post the results when I have them.

I had eight cams out all summer trying to get a pic of abig buck from last year with no luck.Got the buck fever scents from cabelas and put in front of every cam. When I checked the eight rolls 3 weeks later I had pics of 8 different bucks including the big one from the previous year.It seems to me that the stuff works but maybe they just started moving.

I use dominiant buck lure in a srape dripper and have had good success with it.I've shot numerous bucks with their noses in it.I shot a 235 lb 8 pointer last year with his nose it.The buck was rubbing tree 10 inches in diameter.I had other shots at smaller bucks too.
