I found this big blue bird about 3 miles from where the owl was snoozing, along the Colorado river on the parker strip.

Nice pics. It looks like the Great Blue Herons that we have here on the Texas coast.

Definitely a great blue heron. We have even had them in our neighborhood. One occassionally follows the creek all the way up from the Newport back bay. The froggin' is good for them around here.

Nice shots QR, they are the last of the herons/egrets to leave this area when winter comes... tough birds!

Nice shots there. See great blue herons here all the time down by the river, they are here year round. They are pretty tough to sneak up on.
