I don't know if they're the same thing, but.... About 10 years ago my buddy Rob worked with a lady whose husband had passed away. The dead guy was a gun nut and left behind (among other things) some "exploding targets" in a closet. The guy's widow gave them to Rob. He called me up and told me about them. "I'll be right over," I said. The excitment of them was too much for Rob and he couldn't wait for me to get there so he took them out back and duct taped one to the cement block wall. He then stood back about 50 feet and started popping at it with a BB gun. In addition to being a dim bulb he's also a poor shot. After several misses he got closer... and closer... and closer. Just as I pulled up in front of his house there was a tremendous KABOOOM!! and crashing noise. I ran through the side gate to find Rob staggering around in a huge cloud of smoke, BB gun still in his hand. Two of the windows on the house were broken, he had a sizable gash on his forehead, and there was a divot in the block wall. A few minutes later the police and a fire truck showed up - (we told them that the propane barbecue had a leak and he had tried to light it). He ended up with 7 stitches in his forehead. He had 3 more exploding targets but was so afraid of them that he soaked them in water and then mixed them into the dirt out in the desert (before I could talk some sense into him). Sure would have loved to have seen that thing go off instead of just seeing the aftermath.

Well I just order myself a test case. The company is out of Oregon and said it is LEGAL everywhere. The guy on the phone was getting pretty excited explaining everything and said they are very simple to mix and use. The only problem is you have to go to a very remote area as the blast can be heard up to 8 miles away!! We'll see

I have some I picked up at a gun show. They are made by J.G. Dapkus Co.
P.O.Box 293, Durham Ct. 06422

You shoot them with a pellet gun and the sound is about the same as a 12 Ga. at the target. They are loud and you don't want to be too close as they are really like the old M-80 firecrackers that were outlawed.

They ARE fun!!! so there fore probly not leagle in Kalafornia. Do they still let you guys have water pistols out there??

PS NO MIXING to these, they are ready to go!!!

You don't have the same thing. He guy I talked to up in OREGON where it is processed said:

1) You do have to mix it. Very easy mix one capfull of Catalsyt that comes with it.

2) You have to shoot with a High caliber rifle. .17 or .22mag. will not work. He recommended a 22-250 and up.

3) This Tannerite is very Explosive. Shoot at least 75-100 yards away and the Explosion will be heard 6-10 miles away!!

I don't think it's the same as to what producty your referring to. As of right now it is legal EVERYWHERE. It is a fairly new product and he did say that after it gets popular it will most likely be Illegal in most places. If I REALLY like the product I will order a few cases to have on hand.

Mr Ree, "They ARE fun!!! so there fore probly not leagle in Kalafornia. Do they still let you guys have water pistols out there??", To answer your question these will probably be outlawed next year, & capguns around here are about non-existant. If you get a chyance run down to your local toy store & pick me up some of those paper caps for a capgun
I need some more for my Rocky Mnt muzzle loader, it uses those caps as a primer.
