I opened my attic door and this came sliding down at me. I have no idea how long it had been in my attic or how it got in there. My wife swears she'll never go up there again

Do we really have Tarantulas around here? or is this another breed like a wolf spider that looks a lot like a Tarantula ? I always thought of Tarantulas as being from somewhere else in the world not in the natural state.

I did a search on the internet and found that we have the Texas Brown Tarantula. I believe the one I found is a female because she is so large. The males are smaller. Here is a link to the Arkansas Tarantula:
