Tejon this past weekend was great. I had two guys that had nevered killed a pig so I knew it was going to be fun!!!!
The grass is high and a lot of the sow's are wet so be care full. The roads are in great shape so you guys have fun this weekend and kill some pigs.
Well we started out Friday afternoon after camp was setup, which was pretty easy with a RV. We hop in the jeep and start out to check a few new roads near the lake. We get to the top of the ridge and start glassing the hills. There are more cattle this year than I recall in years past which really helps when you are glassing miles away. We see nothing but cows it's about 12:45pm and just a light breeze and the air temp is in the low 60's. After about 15 min. we get back into the jeep and drive to the next ridge line to glass some more.......hoping to spot a group of pigs laying under the trees. we do this for a while then we decide to drive a few roads that I have never been on. We find more cows and no pigs but we do find several roads that may help to recover the pig if he falls down the hill.
At about 5pm we get to the top of another ridge and I see a pig about 7 miles away, we new it was a pig from the movement and the smaller size compared to the cows . So, we haul ass over to the pig and get above him. We start our stalk we slowly find the pig and realize it's a wet sow with 2 difrent size pigs some are about 60lbs and some still have the stripes and are about a 1/4 of the size of the other pigs. Oh well lets start glassing some more.......then I see a single pig on a ridge about 2 miles away. We get there and it looks like a sow that's dry, no little ones so game on. We stalk ober the ridges watching the wind everything is perfect. One more ridge and the pig should be right there. I was the one to spot it so I had first shot at it with my to virgins backing me up. As I crest the ridge I see the pig it's about 50 yards down hill. I line up the cross hairs and squeeze the trigger.......
