I cannot make the May hunt so I was thinking about the June 3-5 hunt. Has anyone ever done this hunt? If so any suggestions for a rookie pig/bowhunter? It says South/Archery, is that a good area for bow hunting? I have a trip planned in Oct. to Texas but would like to go to Tejon first. I appreciate any advice or help you could give. Thanks

My friend hunted in June. Be up before daylight and hunt till dark. The only time he saw hogs were just at daylight and just before evening time about dark rthirty. I would try to find a watering hole and post. Hogs won't be moving around very much because of the heat. I would look for an area that has a lot of cover then you can stock up on a hog for a shot.
Good luck.

I figured they wouldn't be moving much during the day due to the heat but it's the only date I can make it. I may give it a shot. How about the camping area. I have a 40' trailer will it fit or will it be a pain in the rear??

Your trailer will fit fine. Hogs will be hiding out in the steep thick canyons on the North facing slopes. Look for the Darkest, shadyest canyons where it will be a few degrees cooler. Walking quietly into these areas you may come up on some bedded/sleeping piggys

I'm heading up tommorrow with my son for the Mgmt. hunt on the north side. I'll let you know what's going on after I get back. Usually in may and june, it.'s real early, or just before sun down. Last year I got a good one right at sun down ( may hunt).
You're good to go with a '40 trailer, the south area has a huge area for trailer camping, no hook ups though.

RO... thanks for the info. I would appreciate an update when you get back. Seems like the $300 price is well worth it. I actually prefer hunting like that without a guide. Makes me feel like I accomplished something rather than being put on one. No hookups will be just fine as it a toyhauler with lots of water and a generator too. Anyone else looking at that date in June let me know. Thanks for all the info and keep it coming if you have more.
