Great experience on my first Texas hunt. The abundance of wildlife was amazing, deer, turkey, dove, there was no shortage of things to marvel at as I sat in my blind. Just as it got too dark to see anymore and as I was packing up for the night I see a dark blob that wasn't there all afternoon, when I see the blob move I knew it was a hog. As I raise my rifle I realize that I can no longer see the cross hairs in my scope so I zoomed in until the blob filled the view I had in my reticle making sure it was centered. Took the shot and as I watched it run off, I got nervous that I had either missed it or would never find it. I set out with flashlight and rifle in hand looking for a blood trail but found none, I headed in the direction it ran and found it piled up just 40 yards away in a pile of cactus. As I was driving home Governor Abbott opened up Texas, removing all covid restrictions and it was awesome traveling through a free America!

Nice hog, pictures and write up. Glad you got that hog and it looks like you were somewhere in West Texas. Congrats and I hope you can visit Texas often. Yes, in Texas, Freedom Lives. Good job.

Great hunt Cjack. I just got back on monday from Snyder Tx as well and had a similar experience as you. My 175 lb Boar came in at last light around 7pm and I made a shot as he was slowly moving away as I think he got wind of me. By the time I walked up to Mr pig it was dark. I saw deer and lots of turkey and a bobcat and found petrified wood but unfortunately no Comanche arrowheads. I brought back the backstop, I hope its not too gamey.

I brought back the whole thing and ground it up, made breakfast sausage and Italian sausage out of it. Doesn't taste gamey but it was a bit smaller than yours and also has spices to hide that. Congratulations on that big boar!
