A business associate recently invited me to go a hunting Texas. Being very excited I forgot to ask some basic questions. For example, How does one pull a deer tag in Texas. Over the counter, lottery, what? Does anyone around here know?
Also, what about other game. Hunting license, ect.

Thanks

You just buy a non-resident hunting license for $300.00. It includes tags. Not sure how many you get with a non resident license though. Mine includes 2 mule deer tags (1 anterless only) and 8 whitetail tags (2 anterless only). Some counties limit the number of deer you can take though.

You can buy it online here.

Or when you get here at any sporting goods store or Walmart.

Here is more information on licenses if you need it.

What part of the state will you be hunting?

around Silverton , Texas. Between Amarillo and Lubbock.

I'm going back there to pick up a weanling Quarter horse filly, and he offered to take me out. He mostly hunts varmits and pigs. But he says there are plenty of white tail and some muleys. Might be the only time I get to hunt Texas, so I thought I'd try it.

Thanks for the info and I hope you have a good hunting season also.

If your already gonna be here and all it will cost you is the $300.00 license, I'd jump all over it. Depending on where he takes you , that is a good area for Mulies and Whitetails. Sounds like a sweet deal.
