I am wanting to go hog hunting in texas, with my bow, in the spring of 2011. I know they have applications for APH permits in texas, and was wondering if this is the best way to go. I do not want to hire a guide service. Also how are the hogs hunted? Tree stands and ground blinds like deer hunting, on well traveled paths, or by spot and stalk? I am wanting to shoot alot of hogs for meat and maybe one or two for trophy, this is why I do not want a guide. They usually have a limit of two or three per day. Is there anyone out there with private ground in Texas that would be willing to let me come and take some hogs off the property? What is the best public region for quality and numbers of wild hogs? I know there is alot here but I have done alot of homework on the subject but need some first hand advice about the public land part and the best methods for bowhunting. I am looking at going for 7-10 days.

Thanks to all,
