The American Alligator

I visited a state park that has a lot of alligators. Getting good close ups of gators is hard to do with a small lens (24-70mm), but here was my attempt.

This one was cropped in.

Chris, you could wade out a little deeper to get some close ups!

Considering these are with the 24-70, that's pretty good!(I see some LLLong glass in your future!)


I rented the 24-70 last week and man that is a nice one. Sometimes it was not wide enough for a group shot though(30+ kids). On a FF camera it would work out very well though.

Yes, I told my wife I was interested in getting some bigger lenses.. she asked "can you get by with what you have".. I said umm yeah I guess so...

A few minutes later she saw this photo, and indicated that getting close to large predatory animals wouldn't be allowed either!
