This guy never fails to amaze me on how many different fronts he will try to control in order to put some kind of further socialist system in.
A common theme is for him and his cronies to vilify the institutions which represent those areas that would allow him to take control.
Remember how the Clinton's made villains of the pharmaceutical companies, bringing the stocks down allowing purchase at lower prices, essentially gaining control over these institutions, then President Clinton loosened the national restrictions on the advertising of prescription drugs on television. The stocks go back up and could be sold before they get too high again.
Vilification of an institution is a regular tool of these kind of politicians.
The health care issue was among one of the first attempts at government control for Obama, by vilifying health insurers; which actually had more to do with control of people's lives than any real health issue.
Then on another front he wants to implement measures of control through environmental concerns, or domestic security, or to continue to get the banks in further debt to the government by again forcing them, with the help of an out of control pork loving legislative branch, to make unreasonable loans which helped cause the housing crisis, in order to centralize capital.
Other fronts will use transportation as it's excuse. An immobile society is a controllable society.
Currently, he is taking another chapter from the early 20th century Continental European politicians of the past with a 'Make-Work' program concerning the building of a public railway that he wants to start in Florida and that he wants these railways to connect major cities in the entire nation to one another.
8 billion is the cost he wants to build the beginning of this railway just in Florida alone.
Sure, it will make more jobs for some select group of people for a short time. But it does not create wealth and will weaken the country overall.
When Eisenhower began improving the interstate highway system projects, this was a good thing. It represented independence for the common man. This did not necessarily create wealth either, but it did allow for more efficient use in the creation of wealth to improve the common man's or woman's life.
I believe Obama wants to take that independence away. A public rail system with TSA gestapo-like twits at each thoroughway center is just a system that will help establish that loss of independence and put further control to a 'new progressive' government that he will want to put in place.
If he would truly want to see our nation gain strength back, he should just let bankers bank, farmers farm, fisherman fish, loggers log, miners mine, ranchers ranch, etc. and then let manufacturers make products from those raw materials mentioned above with out having any unreasonable restrictions placed upon them by irrational environmental or economic special interests.
Most often many of those groups only push those agendas that weaken this country domestically and many of them know that is exactly what it is doing and they are loving it.
The above things when done responsibly, along with a strong military to help protect our right to pursue those things that make our lives better from those who want to destroy them, is what has helped make our nation strong in the past.
When hearing him speak last night and this morning, I just wanted to turn down the volume on the television and loop the Talking Heads tune 'We're On The Road To Nowhere' over the TV's audio. I am sure it would synch up perfectly.
