I'm stillwaiting on the big drop that we should be seeing, what with all the "Crude Prices Tank" headlines. I filled up yesterday at $1.84/9 (cash) or $1.94/9 (credit) and that was only at one station. All the rest are still over $2.00 and some as high as $2.17/9

Only commerce is moving and most of that runs on diesel. Little or no movement even locally equals a surplus. Refineries will probably start cutting back on production if they haven't already.

Lately, the cash/credit spread has been growing. Credit cards charge the vendor 3-4%, but 89 octane gas is $1.71/9 and $1.81/9 for cash and credit respectively. That's a 5.8% spread. I use credit almost exclusively because cash is nasty and I get points back, but at 5.8%, I may have to start carrying cash (if I can find hand sanitizer).

Mine is a Circle K (Shell) debit card, I get an extra $.05 per gal. if I use it instead of cash.

Been over three weeks since the wife has been in a vehicle. I run over to our shop every day or two to water the plants and check on the place, but it is only 4 miles away. Been to the grocery store once in the last three weeks, and haven't bought gas for over a month until yesterday.

We may head up to the hills and spend a day or two at the cabin when the rain stops.
