i cant seem to connect with my hunting. getting closer, but till i put my hands on a downed hog, it will continue to be my "holy grail"..SOMEDAY!

well, today i assisted with hog roundup. we run together a bunch of free ranging hogs. penned them up, and then trailered them to a dryer farm. hog farm was almost flooded.

last year i had all my gutting gear, and was ready to "get down", but this year, much to my surprise, a professional butchering operation rolls up. my neighbor had called in a butcher friend!! hooray!

it was amazing to watch. here are some pics.

next year, i am going to arrange the purchase of half of a cow. yes! i need a new freezer for sure.

Ahhhhhh, I have good memories of going to the slaughter house with my parents. That's where I learned how to gut, skin, and quarter a pig :).
