It had been a while since I had been to Tejon, and I was itching to get out there again. This kid (well he's 22 now) has worked for me in various businesses over the years and is a great guy. He's always showed interest in hunting, so I decided to take him along and see what he thought about it all. Lets just say he's already signed up for his hunter's safety course and is ready to go back with his own tag. On this hunt he was my cameraman, but he struggled a little bit while trying to get the footage, he had never been behind a camera until this day. Which is the reason I didn't shoot the first pig you see in the video. He actually was on him right before he goes into the brush, but he didn't tell me because he was covering his ears lol

anyways it was a great day on the ranch, always makes it a lot more fun introducing someone new to the sport. saw lots of wildlife and plenty of pigs. ended up taking a nice sow in the afternoon. I usually don't even gut my hogs anymore (gutless method and bone them out), but I figured we could gut this one so DJ could get his hands a little dirty. In the end he couldn't do it. But it was pretty funny seeing him give it a shot. I told him when he shoots his first one he's going to have to, so he better be ready.

Here is a video I pieced together of the footage we did get. Mostly just as something for him to have. But I did get the kill on video, so I figured it was worth sharing. skip to 3:25 to see the good stuff. FYI some of the language may be NSFW

Wow that was a great quality vid, loved the shots of your friend squirming while trying to gut it!

I was to the left of the camera when I shot. I noticed that as well. gun also also has a brake which I am sure contributed to that.

Nice video! Loved the Pulley to haul up the pig with.

What rifle/caliber/bullet you using?

Hey thanks! yeah that 600 ft of rope has come in handy many times on Tejon. combined with a winch, strap, and snatch block, anything is possible.

The rifle is my main go-to rifle for pigs and deer. its a H-S Precision .300 WSM, and I shoot 168 gr TTSX out of it (handloads, 73 gr of rl22). Its a tack driver.
