This happened to me just a few days ago, true story.
Unarmed except for my wits I faced this wild boar in it's own element the forests of Mount Haleakala but using my superior brain and shear brute strength I was able to subdue this monster. Pictures below but be forwarned not for the faint of heart...

Popoki & Pua'a are actually aikane. My first thought for a name was laulau since she so small but Frank Delima's version of "Lucille" kept popping in my head.

What did mama have to say about that? I've been charged twice trying to catch the little guys.

How in the world is he so tame? The one's that I have caught by hand squeel, bite, stink and try like hell to get away.

I was driving a rural dirt backroad when I came around a corner and spotted this little critter in middle of road. She was so tiny I wasn't sure what she was until I slowly approached within 20 feet. As I pulled up she actually started walking towards my vehicle. When I stepped out she ran into the knee high grass on side of road but her rear was showing. When I picked her up she SQUEALED bloody murder so I jumped into back of my truck with her, and waited several minutes for momma to respound to the distress calls but no sign of her at all. This is a hunting area and I 'm guessing either momma was taken by a hunter or frightened away enough to not return for her lagging runt baby. This runt was very feisty and hornery at first snapping and charging at hands but by evening she was eating the mashed banana, rice, milk mixture with gusto, and by the next day she was letting me carry her, and was sleeping on my lap. Maybe due to her very young age she adopted us (wife & me) as surrogate parents (and kitty as sis). It's been a week today since I found her, and she is like a little dog following us everywhere, complaining when she's hungry, and when she's lonely. She did not smell bad at all when found maybe because it was a pine forest at higher altitude? The day after I found her my wife gave her a nice flea bath so absolutely no external parasites (fleas, ticks, etc.) on her whatsoever. She is even litter trained with one easy lesson, smart little piggy.

I fell asleep while babysitting but Lucille didn't seem to mind:

I will bet that Lucille will escape the chopping block come 100 lbs. plus of porky maturity.......somebody in here said don't name your food or you will break your heart to put the knife on it. Litter trained eh!!! That is the best.....I hate animal mess clean up.

Looks to me like Lucille has taken over!
Should make a great pet?
My dad raised a fawn named her Molly
the family could never bring themselves to invite her for dinner so they released her when she was about 3yrs old and she started bringing her fawns to the ranch every spring for several years. Now every time we drive through the country we wonder if....? Completely ruined the deer hunting on the ranch we had to hunt the neighbors ranch instead.

Very cool...

Pigs are extremely smart critters, and great pets... 'cept they get big and don't realize it.

We raised a piglet (named Petunia). It was originally a joke and never meant to stay, but my dad thought it was great. I had her retrieving with my lab. Should've seen them race for the dummy! But when she hit about 150-200 lbs, the cute factor was kinda gone and the backyard started to smell a little too strong.

Petunia went on to grace a southern-style barbecue. She was tasty.

I could eat a piggie pet but I think the wifey and the kids will shed tears if that were the case. I probably will not be able to swallow once I see their tear stained faces at the dinner table. Oh well..........it may be a pet but still........it is a B-B-Q walking on legs. Here's a toast to that piggie porky ribs Uncle Ji.............six months and a 100+ lbs. later.
'Nuff said.
