Thanks Chris, this topic on Photographyreview.com really struck a nerve with me. I've been looking into taking some photography related course at one of my local colleges.... I'm going to need better equipment

Very good job, I especially liked the focus you got on the frog, manual focus ? The tules in the foreground usually bite me, their always in focus and the frog isn't.

Thanks Quailsroost, I'm using a Kodak Z740. I took the picture with a couple of different settings and this was the best of the bunch. I can't wait to buy a camera that will give me more 'control.'

Here are the details of the picture:

Shutter 1/250 sec

Aperture f3.20

Focal length 21.20 mm

ISO speed 80

clutch, I took a leisure learning class on selling photography on the side and/or full time about a year ago. I quickly came to the conclusion that I didnt want to make a living doing it. Not trying to deter you, but like you said, take a class or two, and get familiar with the industry. I try to make some on the side occasionally, and that is about as far as I will take it.

One thing I reccomend doing when you start getting serious, and that is to purchase a book called "The 2006 (or 2007) Photographer's Market". It lists books/magazines/publishers who want to buy photos. It lists what kind of photos they want, when they want the photos, how much they pay, how to submit your photos, etc. Its the first step in getting your foot in the door.
