My ex wife crouched down might pass for a wild Boar if I was drunk. WTF is right, I also wouldn't hunt with 50 hunters.

I will never hunt with 50 hunters! wtf ???
Hunting in europe is very ritualized, very traditional. Usually there's a club or orginzation that hosts a hunt. Normally shooting from high stands with very defined shooting zones, no roaming around. The begining and end of the hunt is announced with something like a trumpet. It has to be done this way because of the population density.

Thats why thats so odd for europe, there's a very regimented system in place to prevent that kind of thing. weird

It is common to have drivers, beating the brush, to drive the game towards the hunters who are waiting up front. Easy to have 50 guys involved in that.

Sounds more like collecting than hunting. Not exactly fair chase.

.

There is a guy on a waterfowl forum that lives in FInland and hunts Norway, or the other way round. Anyway, up until a few years ago their waterfowl seasons started at midnight. He said that shootings were not uncommon. Thinks Southern Cal public land dove hunting in the dark.

You have to understand that in germany we have a different hunting system.

We have the so called "Reviersystem" which means that the hunter has it´s own area to hunt exclusively.
This is defined by a contract which defines the area and and the price for it
plus some other rules...
Unfortunately it is common that the responsilbe hunter has to pay for damage
done by the game eg. at corn fields, especially by wild boar.
But they´re 99% active at night. We are allowed by law to hunt boar at night,
but we´re not allowed to own or use the needed tools, like night vision scopes.

That´s the reason for those large hunts.
You have to get them unless you want to pay for their damage....
Here in germany only a dead boar is a good boar.
Those hunts ary discussed very controversial here, too.
But without the right tools that´s the only way to get the job done.

So you invite some hunting friends, some dogs and some drivers, and
there you go....
There are very clear rules about those hunts, but unfortunately those
accidents keep happening because some individuals ignore them....
You can´t imgaine what i´ve seen.... Some very very close situations....

I hope the brought some light into the situation ;-)

cya,

german hunter
