Hello,

Some of you may know me from TFL a while back - been quiet there due to work commitments etc etc.

I currently have a Bushnell Yard Pro 400, but want to up grade -

1. Effective range on Deer / soft targets here runs out circa 290/300 yds max and is often closer to 225 yds in the field
2. Optics are not particularly clear ( appreciate not quality observation device )
3. Just big enough not to fit a pocket - so constantly juggling whether to take binoculars or finder.
4. Hey... I'm a shooter - I'm genetically programmed to keep fiddling about with gear!

I have read the other posts - all helpful, but not complete for me.

Over here the Yardpro Scout and Leica LRF 800 are available for exactly the same price. That price is right at my maximum budget.

I want to range comfortably to 350-400 yds in the field on deer etc. I'd like to be able to either carry the finder unnoticed in a pocket or press it into use as a monocular - instead of carrying bins.

Perceived wisdom gives my dilema - I assume the Leica has great optics, but the Bushnell looks smaller and a pocket fit. Also concerned that Leica takes a Lithium battery as opposed to the more readily ( over here ) available 9v.

Grateful for any views.

In answer to my own question!

First - the links post was very helpful - almost removes the need for further posts!

Second simply picked up both in a local shop - stepped outside ( shop is on a farm ) and two minutes later stepped back in and bought the Leica!
