My wife drew this hunt and a buddy of ours bought a landowner tag. He's flying out at the end of this month to look over the unit. We'll be driving from NV where she has a mule deer tag and arriving sometime on Friday, the day before opening day. I hope he finds a good camp spot when he's out scouting. This will be our first time setting foot in the unit. Maybe we'll run into you.
I'll be just South of you folks in 6a.I have local friends that have hunted that unit a few times,it is one of the units I've looked into.It should be a real good year in NM with the rain they got the last month .Good luck and good hunting.
I use to hunt the part that was 5B and is now part of 51. It a good unit and it has some really good bulls. I think it's going to be a great year down in that area.
Thanks, bud. I'll look for a camp spot low and drive up each day using the Rhino in the muck. It's only eight miles from the bottom to the top. We'll be there the same time, just in a different area. Good luck on your hunt.
Got some e-mails from archery guys the bulls are calling and they are see some good ones. They said the horns are really good this year. I hope they still are talking a little in 2 weeks.
One guys said he been bulls every day of the archery hunt. Some days he would stalk 3-4 different bulls. I'm statring to get that X-mas day feeling. LOL
