I hunted upper cottonwood about a month ago. I am almost glad I didn’t see a little piggy because we were so far back in the hills that it would have been hell getting the animal back to the truck. I need some guidance before I try it again. What should I do if I shoot a pig back in the hills, one mile away from the truck, through rough terrain? Should I gut the animal where I shoot it, sew it back up to keep dirt from getting in the cavity and drag the carcass to the car or gut and skin in the field then somehow pack it out? What is the most efficient way to get the animal back to the truck without spoiling the meat or killing my back?
