Hello to everyone in the forum.  I'm pleased to be a part of this little cyber community.  Anyway,  After a bad experience with the Game-vu digital trail camera, I am very interested in the concept of using infrared cameras for wildlife observation.  I have found several moderately priced infrared cameras (<$200) that would do the job if there was a way to activated the camera with a motion sensor and capture the images.  My thought is to get a DC powered VCR and tie it and the camera in to the sensor while powering the unit with a 12 volt battery.  Sounds so simple.  Does anyone think this could work ?  I plan on giving it a try, with the help of my Dad. (he's an EE) Does any one have past experience with infrared cameras ? Any input or comments would be appreciated. Thanks

Mostly just wanted to say "Welcome to the Site"!

I don't know much about what you're asking but bet there's some who do or have tried it.

One problem I see with the VCR is operation in cold weather, tape drag would be a problem I'm sure.
