Antlerless applications due no later than 5 p.m. on June 17
Salt Lake City — The deadline to apply for Utah's 2002 antlerless big game hunts is just days away. Applications must be received no later than 5 p.m. on June 17 to be included in the draw for antlerless elk, deer, moose and doe pronghorn permits.
"I'd encourage hunters to apply at our Internet Web site," says Judi Tutorow, wildlife licensing coordinator for the Division of Wildlife Resources. "It's easy and you can get your application in within a matter of minutes."
The Web site address is http://www.wildlife.utah.gov. Hunters must have an American Express, Discover, MasterCard or Visa credit card to apply at the site.
Hunters who don't have a credit card are encouraged to use an overnight mail service to assure their application arrives at the Utah Wildlife Administrative Services office by 5 p.m. on June 17.
A total of 10,594 cow elk permits; 3,695 doe deer permits; 296 doe pronghorn permits; and 55 cow moose permits, will be available through the public draw this year. Many of Utah's private Cooperative Wildlife Management Units will also have public antlerless permits available. Hunters can apply for these public CWMU permits during the application period.
"Hunters need to make sure they get their application in on time for their best chance of hunting the area and species they want," Tutorow said.
For more information call the Utah Wildlife Administrative Services office at 1-800-221-0659, the nearest Division of Wildlife Resources office or the Division's Salt Lake City office at (801) 538-4700.
