Have any of you folks tried the Utah General archey hunt?

Any experiences good or bad?

I see the dates can line up w/the General archey deer hunt.

I have seen elk while deer hunting, but would need to double check maps and boundaries.

I don't really care about trophy racks on this hunt. I'll take a cow if it's legal.

I've only hunted elk here last season. The best success rates for any bull units are out in the High Uintas on the South and North Slopes. the largest populations of elk are in the center of the state. If a cow is just as good as a bull to you, then the Spike/Cow archery areas are probably the best bet. I can't say I have found any honey holes yet--but, I'm itching to explore some more because I do know there are guys who get their elk almost every year archery hunting. Most folks are pretty closed lipped about any details on where they go though.

A lot of areas during the archery season do see quite a bit of pressure....if you end up at one of the more popular areas, you might be suprised by the number of hunters you see archery hunting.
