Late report all, as I was in Vegas for the weekend hehe.

Anyway's, my dad decided to go out pig hunting again last thursday evening and scored on a big one. It had been one he had been tracking for months and he was finally able to get close enough to him at the right time. One shot in the neck brought him down. Dressed out at 187lbs. This was the third one he's taken this season. The other two were 185 dressed and 144. So there are some decent pigs this year with all the wet weather. Just have to put in the time to get them.

Trying to get pics posted... when I figure it out i'll post them here.

Sounds like your Pop paid his dues on tracking that one. Must be nice to get out hunting that often. Congratulations to him!

Love to see the photos. What Area did the pig come from?

Here's the pig pic. And it was taken out of area 4 for all you wondering hehe.

Picture isn't the best quality. Was taken on a disposable camera and had to be resized.

Hey jeep hunter, I'm not familiar to the area that your dad shot the pig. I assume that it was on north base though. what is a landmark or something near by that you could identify it with minuteman, slick 2, the big building...ect?
I've been going out to VAFB my entire life with my dad, he works for a private contractor out there and is unable to hunt, but i've seen the biggest blacktails ever out there and some pigs that would be pushin' 400 pounds. thanks

Hey JackRabbit. I can't say exactly where he got it other then Area 4. He's got some nice little ridges he likes to walk and has taken quite a few from that spot over the years. He hardly see's anyone there either and kind of wants to keep it that way and threatened to boot me from the boat for the rest of salmon season if I said exactly where lol.

No problem there perfectally understandable, I can't hunt on base, I've spent a lot of time out there and was just wondering, I am pretty familiar with everything out there. I can tell you one thing though the pigs aren't visible from the road. I have seen a total of 1 pig from a road on VAFB and it was on San Antonio West, not even on the gated area of the base. You HAVE to get off the roads and hike a bit to find the big boys.

That's true. I can't recall seeing a pig from the hwy going to or from the base either. I know my dad has seen them once or twice on the side of the road, and even a dead one in the middle of the road. But yeah, gotta make use of those feet.
