This will probably be my last opportunity at any velvet photos this year. I won't be able to get out and shoot anytime in the near future, and Ive already seen a couple with stragly velvet hanging down around their ears (already rubbed off).

I was shooting with the 70-300mm f/4-f/5.6 lens. The lens was maxed out at 300mm, plus the 1.6x crop factor, so I was shooting at an effective length of 480mm. These shots had plenty of light (around 6:00pm in the afternoon), however some of the early morning photos (7:30am) I took with this lens didnt look as nice due to the noise (low light required ISO1600 and ISO3200)

technicals on these are
Shutter priority
1/400sec
f/5.6
ISO400
300mm

Thanks Roscoe,
These photos were taken on the edge of harris county. the place that I go to doesnt allow hunting, so they are able to mature very well.
