This week's hunting report
Hunting report
The hunting report will be published each Thursday during the waterfowl season. Reports are based on reports as of Wednesday from the Missouri Department of Conservation, the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
Missouri waterfowl
• FOUNTAIN GROVE: 35,500 ducks (mostly mallards); 50,150 geese (50,000 snows, 150 Canadas). Hunting has been fair. Hunters have averaged 1.2 birds per person the last week.
• SWAN LAKE: 10,000 to 12,000 ducks (mostly mallards); 500 Canada geese.
• SQUAW CREEK: 10,000 to 12,000 ducks (mostly mallards); 900 Canada geese.
• BOB BROWN: 39,500 ducks (mostly mallards); few geese. Hunting has been good. Hunting pressure has been heavy. Shooting positions are being filled most days in the drawing. Hunters averaged 2.7 birds per person the last week.
• NODAWAY VALLEY: 10,000 ducks (mostly mallards). Hunting has been fair. Hunters averaged 2 birds per person the last week.
• GRAND PASS: 94,270 ducks (mostly mallards). Hunting has been fair. Pressure has been heavy.
• FOUR RIVERS: 32,000 ducks (97 percent mallards); 7,700 geese (7,500 snows, 200 Canadas). Light pressure. Hunting has been fair.
• SCHELL-OSAGE: 12,000 ducks (mostly mallards); 30,500 geese (30,000 snows and blues). Hunting has been poor to fair. Hunters averaged 1.2 birds per person for the last week.
• SMITHVILLE: 2,000 ducks (mostly mallards); 30,000 geese (25,000 snows and blues, 5,000 Canadas). Hunting has been fair.
• OTTER SLOUGH: 7,000 ducks (mostly mallards); 50,000 snow geese. Hunting has been poor.
