WATER QUALITY HEARING POSTPONED; PUBLIC MEETINGS SET

JEMEZ SPRINGS, N.M. - The Water Quality Control Commission hearing set for Jan. 14 on piscicide treatment in San Antonio Creek and East Fork Jemez River has been postponed. The hearing was slated to consider application of the piscicide Fintrol (antimycin A) for Rio Grande cutthroat trout restoration in those waters. A new hearing date will be set by the commission at its Jan.14 meeting.

The Department of Game and Fish will hold three public meetings in La Cueva, Los Alamos and Jemez Pueblo to present information on Rio Grande cutthroat trout management and restoration in New Mexico. There will be a discussion on native trout restoration in the waters of the Valles Caldera in cooperation with the Santa Fe National Forest and the Valles Caldera National Preserve. The meetings are scheduled at 7 p.m as follows:

Jan. 30 at Walatowa Visitors Center, 7413 Highway 4, Jemez Pueblo; Feb. 4 at La Cueva Volunteer Fire Station No. 1, Highway 126, La Cueva and Feb. 5 at Graves Hall, United Church of Crist, 2525 Canyon Road, Los Alamos.
