Hunting report

The hunting report will be published each Thursday during the waterfowl season. Reports are based on reports as of Wednesday from the Missouri Department of Conservation, the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Missouri waterfowl

• FOUNTAIN GROVE: 36,000 ducks (mostly mallards); Many snow geese in the area, 150 Canada geese. Some ice on pools. Season totals through Monday: 3,606 hunters had taken 5,960 ducks.

• SWAN LAKE: 10,000 to 12,000 ducks (mostly mallards); 500 Canada geese.

• SQUAW CREEK: 10,000 to 12,000 ducks (mostly mallards); 900 Canada geese. 70 percent ice-covered.

• BOB BROWN: 4,600 ducks (mostly mallards); few geese. Ice on marshes.

• GRAND PASS: 94,270 ducks (mostly mallards). Hunting has been fair. Pressure has been heavy.

• FOUR RIVERS: 32,000 ducks (97 percent mallards); 7,700 geese (7,500 snows, 200 Canadas). Season totals through Monday: 1,869 hunters had taken 4,318 ducks. Hunting has been fair.

• SCHELL-OSAGE: 12,000-15,000 ducks (mostly mallards); 40,900 geese (40,000 snows, 900 Canadas). Hunters have averaged 1.5 birds per person the last week. Hunting has been poor.

• MONTROSE: 1,500 ducks (mostly mallards); 16,00 geese (mostly snows and blues). Hunting has been good.

• OTTER SLOUGH: 5,000 ducks (mostly mallards); 60,350 geese (60,000 snows and blues). Hunters have averaged one bird per person the last week. Hunting has been poor.

• DUCK CREEK: 4,000 ducks (mostly mallards); 300 Canada geese. Hunting has been poor.
