Hunting report
The hunting report will be published each Thursday during the waterfowl season. Reports are based on reports as of Wednesday from the Missouri Department of Conservation, the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
Missouri waterfowl
• FOUNTAIN GROVE: 10,000 to 12,000 ducks; 2,000 Canada geese. Marshes are 90 percent ice-covered. Goose hunting has been poor.
• SWAN LAKE: 25,000 ducks; 100,000 snow geese; 30,000 Canada geese. Goose hunting has been fair. Very light hunting pressure.
• SQUAW CREEK: 2,000 ducks; 400 Canada geese; few snow geese.
• BOB BROWN: No waterfowl. Ice on marshes.
• GRAND PASS: No ducks; 5,000 snow geese; 50 Canada geese. Goose hunting has been poor. Light hunting pressure.
• FOUR RIVERS: Low waterfowl numbers. Some ice on marshes. Light hunting pressure.
• SCHELL-OSAGE: 6,000 ducks (mostly mallards); 5,000 snow geese; 500 Canada geese. Goose hunting has been fair. 60 percent ice-covered.
• OTTER SLOUGH: 25,000 snow geese; 300 whitefront snow geese; less than 100 Canada geese.
• DUCK CREEK: 1,800 ducks; 2,000 snow geese; 250 Canada geese. Hunting has been poor; 90 percent ice-covered.
• SMITHVILLE: 20,000-30,000 snow geese; 2,000 Canada geese. Goose hunting has been fair.
