This week's hunting report

KC Star

The hunting report will be published each Thursday during the waterfowl season. Reports are based on reports as of Wednesday from the Missouri Department of Conservation, the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Missouri waterfowl

• FOUNTAIN GROVE: 1,000 ducks; 1,000 Canada geese. Marshes are 90 percent ice-covered.

• SWAN LAKE: 30,000 Canada geese; no snow geese. Marshes are ice-covered.

• SQUAW CREEK: Fewer than 100 ducks; no geese.

• BOB BROWN: No waterfowl. Ice on marshes.

• GRAND PASS: 10,000 snow geese. Ice on marshes.

• FOUR RIVERS: 20,000 ducks; 6,000 snow geese; 1,500 Canada geese. Ice on marshes.

• SCHELL-OSAGE: 5,000 ducks (mostly mallards); 5,000 snow geese; 500 Canada geese. Ice on marshes.

• MONTROSE: 6,000 ducks (mostly mallards, mergansers); 2,100 snow geese; 100 Canada geese. Ice on the upper end.

• SMITHVILLE: 2,000 snow geese; low numbers of Canada geese.

• OTTER SLOUGH: 30,000 ducks; 70,000 snow geese; 200 Canada geese. Marshes are 60 percent ice-covered.

• DUCK CREEK: 3,000 ducks; 2,000 snow geese; 600 dark geese.
