My canon AF Owl has a really dim flash, since I soldered the wires in.  Sometimes it acts like it want to flash bright but when the shudder fires all I ger is a dim pulse.  I went back and checked the wiring between 2-3 and it looks good.  Anybody have suggestions?

Mike,

sounds like you are getting the half press shutter light to come on (RIGHT?)

Which AF ? THE round switch or the slide switch?

Sounds like you have wrong pins ????

madmike, you said that "since you wired the camera", it's getting a dim flash, was it flashing ok before you wired the camera?  If you manually press the shutter button will it flash ok?  If "no" check or replace the flash battery to see if that will help.  If "yes", check your connections and make sure you don't have a "cold" soldering point.  Might not be at the camera connection but maybe back at the switch or elsewhere.  If you have another camera wired like that one, put it in and see if it flashes ok, that would eliminate the soldering points in the wiring up to the camera.  If it does the same way you should look at the soldering points at switches, etc.  Hang in there you will find it!       bat
