Had another great hunt!
After missing two shots at a group of pigs on the run shortly after our arrival (perhaps a little pig fever), I redeemed myself with a one shot knockdown the next day on a 120 lb (field dressed) dry sow. My partner took a decent hog the first morning right out of camp. Unfortunately, it took three solid hits from a 300 WBY inside 100 yards to bring it down.
These copper bullets have too much penetration because they cut through and much of the energy goes out the far side of the animal, instead of being absorbed into the animal and knocking it down.
One 15 year old young hunter took a nice 300 lb tusker (250 lbs field dressed).
I switched to a bow after filling my first tag with a rifle, but couldn't get close enough to get a shot. I saw about 30 pigs, eight legal bucks and a mountain lion cub with a ground squirrel in it's mouth.
Final tally was five pigs, two 3x3 blacktails and about 50-60 doves.
