I was just asking if anyone hase been drawn for the managed deer hunts out at weldon springs, and was wondering if that was good hunting. I would really like to hunt at Busch Wildlife but this has been the 3rd year in a row i havent been drawn to hunt. The drawing odds are better at weldon then busch so im just wondering if i should put in for weldon and have a better chance to get drawn or to stick it out and hopefully get drawn for busch wildlife

P.S. My friend just killed a nice 10pt non-typical at busch during their managed deer hunt.

It's tougher hunting on weldon Springs but it can be a lot better when looking fo bigger bucks. We used to get drawn every year and always seen several really nice bucks. I'd choose hunting it over Busch any day it is just more the style of hunting I like, river hills. The only problem with it is the walk it was an hour in and an hour out at the verry least and you were usually sweating bullets by the time you got in the tree. We haven't hunted there in the past 5 years or so and things may have change but we always had good hunts. We just moved on to bigger and better places to hunt.

Thanks, I know nothing about weldon i havent ever gone out there i dont know a thing about it. I was just getting frustrated because i have been drawn for busch in like 3 years. Do you think theres a nice size deer herd out there? Im not after monsters i just like seeing deer and hopefully getting a shot at one, and if im lucky maybe it will be a monster.

P.S.- are there food plots out there or is it just woods??

The only food plots I know of are on the east side usually corn or beans. We always seen deer lots of does but the chances of seing aa good buck are better that at busch I think or that is what we noticed since we've hunted both places. Weldon has big oak ridges and when the acorns drop it's pretty easy to find a spot that they will visit for food.
