ANOTHER year has gone by and I STILL haven't been able to get out there.

DAM IT!!!!

Where have the months gone and what was I doing/thinking/avoiding? I wasn't THAT busy at work this year was I? And what about all those weekends spent doing nothing particularly important except put in unpaid overtime- why wasn't I OUT THERE HUNTING? I didn't even go camping this year.

And now, I CAN'T for the next 3-4 months. I can't even go scout, hike, camp or ANYTHING because wifey has broken her leg and is in a wheelchair for 2months with phys therapy for 1-2 months after that.

PLUS, my truck transmission is acting weird. Kinda noisy and stuff that sounds expensive to fix.

Woe is me. :cry-blue:

Ok, enough of THAT! Here's my Plan Of Attack:

Oct. 2011 - Fix truck.
Dec. 2011 - Buy either a .270 or 30-06 for myself for Christmas. Looking at a Savage or Vanguard combo package.

Jan. 2012 - Get 2011-2012 license. Get pig tag. Sight in rifle.
Feb. - Hook up with someone for some much needed mentoring. Go find some piggies.
Mar. - Eat ham, bacon, ribs, chops, carnitas, pot roast, sausage and more.
April - Enjoy envious emails and PM's from forum buddies and friends.

Yeah, it's few months to go before I'm able to resume my carefree and idle ways but 2012 IS THE YEAR that I'm going to go hunting.

As far as the rifle, go for the savage package in 30-06. I've had that gun for 6 years and love it. Killed everything from bobcats to bears with it.

Good luck with the wifes recovery!
