going to africa in may and wildebeest is on the list. my 30-06 shoots federal fusion ammo the best 1 inch groupes at 100 yards. shoots hornady interbond in 1 1/2 inch groupes at 100 yards. after shooting a small 125 pound hog and not getting a passthrough at 80 yards with the federal fusion. i dont think its the bullet i want to us on a wilderbest.
jj hacks speaks highly of the interbond and says the fusion is a poor choice for wilderbeest. my mind is set on the interbond because its a better bullet. do any of you think i should go with the better shooting bullet ?

You should be fine with a 7mm, Unless you plan on taking a Elephant. Good luck on the Hunt in Africa.

Never been, just read a lot about it. Seems the Barnes TSX and Federal Trophy Bonded Tipped are pretty commonly used.
Ask your outfitter what they reccomend
I shot a 125lb hog with my '06 @ about 40yds and the 180gr TSX went clean through 1 shoulder and broke ribs on both sides. Small entrance and about 1.5" exit hole with lung butter gushing out. He only made it about 20yds.

I prefer the Barnes bullets as well. If I were buying factory ammo to take with me for a 30.06, I would probably go with the Barnes VOR-TX Ammunition in 180 grain. I used Barnes in my .375 and it performed well over there.

talked to my PH from africa. and he said pigs are a bast--- to judge bullet penetration and performance on. there mass is solid and inconsistant even to the one next to it. bring the fusion. when shooting wildebeest make a good first shot then put another good shot in it if you can just for insurance.
im sure i just worry to much.

I would be delighted if heading to Africa as it would give me an excuse to buy a 416 Rem Mag!
