I currently have the Fujifilm S7000 and like the camera but, I saw the new Sony A100 and love the speed of focus. My S7000 you have to push the button down 1/2 way and wait for it to focus, then take a chance to loose some pics cause of waiting. I like how the Sony A100 is like instant focus and has the anti vibrate for steady pics. I'm no pro but just wanted a few ideas from them who are. Also, what's your favorite and why? Bottom line is,,,,,,,,,,I'm lookin to get something else.

All of the reviews that I've read on the Sony A100 have been positive, and the images that I've seen taken with that camera look pretty good too. I thought about buying the Sony mostly due to its price but decided on the Canon 30D because of the amount of lenses and etc. available for Canon camera bodies (and based on a few other things). That best advice that received on buying a DSLR I got right here @ JHO: Don't buy a very expensive camera body, save your money for glass.

Before you buy a new camera, my advice would be to buy a book called The Ultimate Field Guide To Photography," by National Geographic. It's a great book that explains a lot and is very easy to read.

Shoot a minolta maxxum 5D here and been very happy with it. The new sony digital slr's are quite similar to the minolta lines of digital slr's, they use the same lenses and have quite a few of the same features.
