I'm looking to buy a bugle? I have never used one but I'm willing to take the time to learn. Can anyone tell me which bugles you use and what brand and style you would suggest. Thanks.

ive used several different brands of bugles over the last few years and id have to say the easiest one to use was the Primos Terminator. Granted it didnt produce the best sound for me but it was still easy to bugle and chuckle on. you can also purchase this bugle in a kit with a video and a cow call also. if you want a bugle that sounds the best then go with an Abe & Son. the sounds this bugle can make are awesome. it is a little more difficult to use but with a good amount of time before next season youd be able to learn how to use it by then. both bugles are relatively the same price.

For me, I can't use a mouth diaphram call worth a hoot--both elk & turkey calls. My breakthru was with Abe & Son's calls last year. It was much, much easier for me to blow.

Bless my wife & daughter for putting up with than a month's worth of daily calling to a video until I started getting good, realistic sounds & rhythms out of it. Actually, my 3 y.o. loved it and she started doing a vocal bugle thru my grunt tube!

I ended up calling in and talking to a real wallhanger for 20 minutes last season in Oregon using their bugle and estreus molestrus cow call--didn't get him in close enough to stick, but that's huntin'. I still get a rush just thinking about how he tore up a PJ sapling.

Talked to 3 different bulls in 1 week which is decent for my first bugling season hunt--I only saw the one though so there is a possibility that I was talking to other hunters on the other 2 elk...but, I like to think I wasn't!

The easiest cow call is either the HoochieMama, or the Sleezy cow call. I was able to make both work really well the first time, but my husband had a hard time with the Sleezy. Once he figured it out, though both are very easy. My father and I called in about 5 bulls with the Sleezy call - pretty effective. Him and my husband also used this call when they were in Colorado - to slow down the bulls and more or less, play with them.

We have a great bull call, but can't seem to find the name of it. It has BUTTOLO on the bottom side and looks like a turtle. You squeeze the "turtle's shell" and can adjust the sound that comes out by lengthening the neck of the call. Dad and I used this call in conjunction with the Sleezy cow call and had great success.
