Hello All,
Just thought to throw a question out there to all you avid pig hunters to see if my theory is correct. From my experience in hunting pigs most of which has been on private property, the pigs dissapear when the rainy weather comes along and the grass grows tall and green and water is abundant. The only logical explanation i can figure is that means there is plenty of food and water the pigs do not have to travel far from their bedding areas, I have told myself this for years but if that was the case you should still be able to go in with dogs to the bedding areas or walk through the bedding areas (heavy brush) and spook them out right? and you should at least see a good number of pigs maybe not as much as in the summer months but still see a good number right? So why in the heck doesn't that happen? the pigs on the property i hunt LITERALLY dissapear from january through late may, and it's not because of lack of cover, hunting effort, food, water, or the property being too small, they have 6,500 acres at their disposal. Just wondering if anyone else has witnessed this, I have hunted 5 different private ranches for hogs and this was the case for each ranch, from May - Late October the pigs are everywhere! From Dec- May the pickens are real slim?
Thanks!
