Just wondered when Bucks chased does the most this year. Some predicted the chase would be on late this year (Thanksgiving w/e)

Because most hunted weekends, the start/end dates are the middle of the week

Thanx

Tinhorn,i seen one nice 8 point picking on a doe across the road from the place i have permission to hunt, other than that all i seen was inferior small bucks cruising the woods alone.

I must have missed it. We have so many darn does that they probably didn't need to chase, they probably walked over to them!

I did see one nice buck hanging with a doe around the 5th of November. All of the other bucks were just meandering around.

Seemed I saw the action from the last week of Oct thru the first week of Nov, but with the full moon, maybe it was keeping them out at night. My experience 1 hour south/west of St. Louis was those weeks before and after Nov 1.

Nov 7 -13 was the peak for me. Saw a number of bucks running does - even through our knee deep marsh. I grunted in a nice 10 pointer on Nov 14th ( and double lunged him). Activity fell off then, probably due to the increasing full moon and the gun season making deer go nocturnal. However, the big bucks sure have not cooperated this year. Maybe they will show up during the secondary rut - with me carrying a ML!

I never saw any intense or active chasing. Most of the bucks I saw were sniffing a little around does but no pesky chasing and bumping them.

This was from the week before gun season opend in north mo near Swan Lake and then down at Tinhorn's cabin during the first 3 days of gun season.

My last day in Mo. I checked out the deer at Lone Elk Park and a private nearby field where I can watch a lot of deer interact. Same thing.

Worst year for rut activity I can remember in a long while.

I went out with my ML last weekend hopeing to see a "secondary rut", but nope. Not only were the bucks not chasing the does but I actually saw a bachelor group of 7 bucks (all non-shooters).
